From beginning to end: “good things to think”! May we be encouraged and uplift one another.

Shavuot – The Feast of Weeks – Pentecost

Acts 2 –

Then the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like a mighty rushing wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. ~ Acts 2:1-2

.

Pentecost (properly, the fiftieth day (50th) after the Passover, Tobit 2:1; 2 Macc. 12:32), the second of the three great Jewish festivals; celebrated at Jerusalem yearly, the seventh week after the Passover, in grateful recognition of the completed harvest.

Just as Moses received the 10 commandments on Shavuot and the 120 in the upper room in Jerusalem received the Holy Spirit, we enter the gates of Shavuot in the joy of Adonai and the awe of the Most High expectant, and part of the end times wave of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the salvation of Israel and join with the global body of Yeshua taking a collective step of faith forward into this new season just as Israel did as they stepped into the Red Sea. May you dine with Yeshua this Shavuot and may the Holy Spirit and fire within you become contagious to everyone around you. Adonai bless you and keep you! Calculation for the Feast of Firstfruits was 50 days after the wave offering of Passover

Leviticus 23:16 – You shall count off fifty days until the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the LORD.Sefirat HaOmer begins with a wave offering of barley and continues for 49 days (7 days x 7 weeks = 49 days) until the wheat offering on Shavuot.

Following this pattern of the counting of the Omer — seven weeks of seven (49) that lead to a day of harvest and transcendence — we are also counting down the days in the expectation of a supernatural harvest when all will be complete and perfect.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this,

To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction,

and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

James 1:27

aspilos: spotless, unstained, undefiled, purebar: pure, clean, innocent

bar בר – threshed grain or corn, from ברר (to purify, select)

Shavuot: The Giving of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit)

This ancient Biblical festival is particularly relevant to New Covenant followers of Yeshua (Jesus).

On this very day, the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) came upon Yeshua’s talmidim (disciples) who had been studying all night, as was the custom. They were waiting according to His final instructions. That outpouring came around 9 a.m. during the morning sacrifices.

Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit…. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:4, 8)

What an awesome event in Biblical history!

On Shavuot, the disciples of Yeshua received power from the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) to be His witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth!

“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.’” ~ Matthew 9:37–38

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us. ~ Romans 5:5
